Happy holidays from the Verb Team

2020 has been one heck of a ride. If there’s one thing that this year has taught us here at Verb, it’s been that nothing is more important than cherishing your loved ones — whether they’re the people you work with, your friends or the family you were born into. No matter what’s going on in the world, the holidays have a funny way of bringing us together. And although celebrating may look a little different this year, there’s always space to appreciate this time. We caught up with our team to hear their plans, traditions and some of their holiday picks this season.

Christina, Product Development Project Manager

What do you love most about the holidays?

I love having an excuse to get gifts for those I love and show them I'm thinking about them, as well as how well I know them. I think it's a huge way that many people show their affection this time of year.

What's your fav holiday flick?

It's a Wonderful Life is such a romantic holiday classic and was both my mom's and my grandma's favorites as well.

Does your family or friend group share any annual holiday traditions? What are they?

A few years ago, my mom started the tradition of leaving a little gift box in front of everyone's place setting and encouraged the family to write a short note about what they love about everyone in the family to place in the box. This year, it'll be over Zoom but it’s still sweet and something I cherish.

Gingerbread or sugar cookies?

Gingerbread!

What's the one Verb product you have to hide from family when you visit for the holidays?

Ghost Oil is very steal-able so everyone should have one in their stocking instead :o)

What Verb product can't you travel without?

Dry Shampoo is a must to keep my hair looking just-washed even through the last-minute wrapping and stress.

What do you love most about the holidays?

The food! I'm Puerto Rican so the food is traditional, flavorful and classic for having family over and ending the year on a really good note.

What's your fav holiday flick?

It changes but lately, I've been coming back to Elf. It's super wholesome and the New York jokes always make me laugh.

Does your family or friend group share any annual holiday traditions? What are they?

As of recently, the tradition has become to be as stress-free as possible on Christmas Day and New Year's. It's easy to get grumpy about the holidays, trying to plan it but my family and I love just being together in peace, enjoying our gifts and breakfast.

Gingerbread or sugar cookies?

Gingerbread gets the spotlight this season.

What's the one Verb product you have to hide from family when you visit for the holidays?

Dry Shampoo because no one wants to wash their hair between December 26th and December 31st and I've always got the Dry Shampoo in powder and spray.

What Verb product can't you travel without?

I have to travel with the mini Leave-In Mist. My hair reacts to every weather change and Leave-In Mist tackles it all with a few spritz.

What do you love most about the holidays?

I love being with friends and family, hanging up Christmas lights and feeling cozy! This year will look differently but I'm sure it will be just as special.

What's your fav holiday flick?

The Grinch and A Christmas Story.

Does your family or friend group share any annual holiday traditions? What are they?

We always watch A Christmas Story on Christmas Eve, mostly because I make my family watch it. We also stick to the same traditional holiday foods and get sassy with my mom whenever she tries to change it up. You know, ham, cheesy potato casserole and green beans. Can't wait!

Gingerbread or sugar cookies?

Sugar!

What's the one Verb product you have to hide from family when you visit for the holidays?

Volume Dry Texture Spray. Both my mom and sister also love this product.

What Verb product can't you travel without?

Our Dry Shampoo powder! It's TSA-friendly and super helpful for extending holiday hairstyles or a refresh after a long day of travel.

Spending time with my family, time to snowboard and good food!

What's your fav holiday flick?

Basic but ...Love Actually. The scene with people hugging in the airport is just so great.

Does your family or friend group share any annual holiday traditions? What are they?

Weird but every year on Christmas Eve, we make handmade pizzas.

Gingerbread or sugar cookies?

Soft sugar cookies are the best.

What's the one Verb product you have to hide from family when you visit for the holidays?

Volume Dry Texture Spray. It makes every style have more volume and look better so my mom and sisters always try to steal it.

What Verb product can't you travel without?

Dry Shampoo powder because nobody (me) has time to wash their hair every day.

What do you love most about the holidays?

I love diving back into old family photo albums and looking at photos from past holidays. Always brings about some happy yet nostalgic waterworks.

What's your fav holiday flick?

Home Alone.

Does your family or friend group share any annual holiday traditions? What are they?

Nothing out of the ordinary. My cousins come over to my parents' house on X-mas Eve for present exchanging and dinner. On X-mas morning, my siblings, parents and I all open gifts together and watch the Yule Log on PIX 11 while eating leftovers from the night before.

Gingerbread or sugar cookies?

Gingerbread. Especially when they have Red Hots as the eyes and buttons. Yum.

What's the one Verb product you have to hide from family when you visit for the holidays?

Ghost Oil, no question.

What Verb product can't you travel without?

Dry Shampoo OG! I've said it before and I'll say it again: this product does it all for fine hair. Cleanses? Yes. Adds nice, light volume? Yes. Leaves behind sticky, starchy residue? Nope.

What do you love most about the holidays?

Holiday decorations! Stringing lights, decorating the tree, hanging wreaths — you name it. And of course, I love spending time with my family and friends.

What's your fav holiday flick?

How The Grinch Stole Christmas. We watch it every Christmas day. Jim Carrey is iconic and the soundtrack slaps.

Does your family or friend group share any annual holiday traditions? What are they?

Every year, we go Christmas tree hunting the day after Thanksgiving. Once we find the perfect tree, we take a family picture in front of it before we cut it down. We've been going to the same Christmas tree farm for over 15 years and have made the best memories together.

Gingerbread or sugar cookies?

Sugar cookies. My grandma makes the best homemade Christmas cookies but I can't resist a Pillsbury snowman sugar cookie.

What's the one Verb product you have to hide from family when you visit for the holidays?

Dry Shampoo Light. My sisters are obsessed with the formula and the purple hue helps hide their roots.

What Verb product can't you travel without?

Ghost Oil is my holy grail hair product. I genuinely feel lost without it.

Does your family or friend group share any annual holiday traditions? What are they?

Every year we decorate a live Christmas tree while listening to throwback soul Christmas music.

What do you love most about the holidays?

My siblings and I are spread out across three different states in different time zones and don’t get to hang out as often as we’d like. So the holiday season is the one time of year we all get together in the same place.

What's your fav holiday flick?

Will Ferrell in Elf makes me laugh every time.

Does your family or friend group share any annual holiday traditions? What are they?

My family tradition is to spend the holidays on the coast in South Carolina each year. Opting for sand over snow and oysters and champagne over cookies and eggnog.

Gingerbread or sugar cookies?

Gingerbread. I’m a sucker for anything with warm holiday spices!

What's the one Verb product you have to hide from family when you visit for the holidays?

Ghost Shampoo and Ghost Conditioner! My sister and I have totally different hair types but we both love the Ghost line and end up sharing.

What Verb product can't you travel without?

The colder winter weather can leave my hair dry and staticy so Ghost Oil is a must-have for me.
