Tips and tricks for styling fine hair

Posted by Allan Weizmann on

No one is born with perfect hair, but you can bet we try! We all have things about our hair we wish we could change and we know for our fine hair friends it can seem really hard to achieve your #hairgoals. If it hasn’t been easy for you to deal with thin hair, these fine hair tips and products will have your hair feeling and looking it's best.

First things first, the key to great hair starts in the shower! It is important to make sure that you are using a high-quality shampoo and conditioner that suits your hair type. There are two options here depending on what you're searching for, if you want a bit more volume at the root and added thickness pick up some Volume Shampoo and Volume Conditioner for some extra body. If you wash every day and need some serious hydration without the weight then reach for the Ghost Shampoo and Conditioner made to smooth frizz and add shine without weighing down fine hair. Both of these options will leave fine hair with a serious body-boost while leaving hair feeling refreshed and looking it's best. Furthermore, you can get both in our Volume Kit!

Once you step out of the shower, make sure to dry your hair with a microfiber towel (or even a cotton t-shirt) to decrease any frizz that may go on throughout the day while retaining moisture in your hair. Fine hair can tend to look a little dryer during the day, so it is important to take as many precautions as you can to make sure that your hair stays looking healthy!

This next step is crucial for adding volume into your fine hair - reach for Volume Spray and spritz heavily from root to end making sure hair is wet with the product (seriously). Volume Spray works to actually increase the diameter of each hair strand and gives an all-over lift without feeling crunchy! Now you can grab a blowdryer and make sure to rough dry hair with your head flipped upside down until it's about 70% dry to help add volume at the root.

Here's where you can add some serious volume and make your style look fuller. Use a Round Brush to finish drying sections of the hair in an upward motion for an at-home blowout look. The ceramic barrel on a round brush traps in the heat from the blow dryer to add long-lasting body to your hair. Not sure how check out our tutorial here.

Now that you've got dry hair with all over volume it's time to style! A crowd favorite for volume is Volume Dry Texture Spray that works to add a bit of grit and some serious volume to any style. Spritz 8-10 inches away from hair and scrunch into any style for a quick voluminous addition!

A little tip and trick from the Verb team... we love adding Dry Shampoo Powder to the root even on clean hair to add even more volume at the root! Plus this helps keep oils at bay even that much longer it's really a win-win situation.

Don't forget the final step in a fine hair routine, add some Ghost Hairspray to keep your style intact (and never crunchy) for an all-day hold!
