What is the shelf life of the dry shampoo?

Should the Dark spray out of the can in a dark mist? Mine does not. The can reads for dark hair although it comes out white. Even when sprayed from 8-10 inches away.

Would the purple tinted light dry shampoo be best for “salt & pepper” colored hair? I have a mixture of brunette and grey, and mostly grey at my temples.
